SHOW YOUR HOME SOME LOVE
I am loving that y’all are loving these helpful tips to keep your home running smoothly! I tend to do a 20 minute reset every morning, which helps all of these bigger steps go quicker, but to be completely honest I HATE cleaning bathrooms. Like loath entirely.. but I still make myself deep clean the entire room . We have a shower and a tub in our primary bathroom, and in order to deep clean them I follow the GoCleanCo. method for this. While you are in the bathrooms mindset, check on the secondary bathrooms that are only used by guests. Make sure you run water in the sink and flush the toilets to make sure water is flushed through the pipes, and any that evaporates is replaced. Okay, ready, three.. two.. one… let’s just rip the bandaid off!
Pro Tip: Vacuum the entire bathroom before you start. This helps make sure that you are not just moving dust, that turns to mud once wet, around and not actually cleaning.
Speaking of bandaids, part of this month’s list is to clean out/restock your medicine. If there are medications that you no longer need or take, the best option is to take them to a “drug takeback location”. The Drug Enforcement Administration has an online tool for finding one near you too!
Cleaning the bathroom suuuucksss but honestly once it’s done, it makes every other room seem so much more doable. So once you are done in the bathroom, we can move to a little easier task- wall touch ups! Sometimes you only need a Magic Eraser or a damp cloth to clean a wall, but sometimes it requires a paint touch up. This can be tricky when trying to match paint sheens. I read in the Washington Post that “a customer service representative from Sherwin-Williams recommends mixing 9 parts paint with 1 part water” to help not create a patchy look. If you try this let me know how it works!
Lastly, since we are in February show your home some love! Stop by a local flower shop or Trader Joe’s and pick up some flowers for your home. This little act of love is something small that makes you smile, is a great example of self care, and personally makes me more willing to keep going ha! As Meghan Trainor says, “You could be good to you” and I couldn’t agree more. Let me know if you have any tips or tricks of your own, I’ll add them to my list!
